SUMMER CARE OFF YOUR ETERNAL LAWN

Some tips for keeping your artificial lawn in tip top condition this summer

Want to find out more?

We always say that artificial grass is low maintenance and it is important to take care of it so it lasts and looks good.

To ensure its longevity it’s important to keep it in tip top condition, and here are a few tips on how to maintain your artificial grass this summer, so you can enjoy it all year round.

  • When we install your artificial lawn we will power brush up the yarn and brush in the kiln dried sand infill which helps to keep the pile upright and protect the yarn. During the 6 – 8 weeks after installation it is important to keep an eye on your grass as it settles. We recommend that you brush the surface, firm but not too firm against the pile direction with a medium bristle brush, nothing too hard.  After the first few months, you will only need to brush your grass around once a month depending on how much use your lawn gets. During the summer you will be using your artificial grass more with higher foot traffic than during the rest of the year. This might result in your grass looking a little flat, but simply brush it gently to get the yarns in the pile back up.
  • If you own dogs and or cats, then a little more maintenance may be required. Any liquids will simply drain away but solids will need to be picked up and disposed of. Any residue leftover should be washed away with warm water and a specially formulated cleaner and or disinfectant. We stock both at out showroom on Bruntcliffe Road in Morley. During summer animals moult and if they play out on the artificial grass regularly it may result in a build of hair in your lawn. To prevent a build-up of pet hair, we recommend power brushing your lawn on a regular basis.  We sell or hire out power brushes, alternatively, we offer a maintenance service and we can come and do this for you.  If you prefer to do it yourself, call in at the showroom and we can demonstrate the two power brushes.
  • Weed seeds may germinate in your artificial grass and we recommend picking them out whilst they are still small or using a water based weed killer, which we stock in our showroom.  Regular brushing will help to prevent weeds appearing.
  • Don’t be tempted to have a BBQ on your artificial grass as hot items will melt the pile and cause permanent damage to your lawn.  Similarly, don’t place hot machines such as hedge trimmers on your artificial lawn.
